Berlingeri Farm is located in the district of Berlingeri, in Mazara del Vallo (TP). The flat 110 ha area is ideally suited for the growing of olives and vines. The olive grove covers around 45 ha and has 4500 trees of the Nocellara del Belice cultivar, with the trees situated 10 metres from one another and an underground irrigation system employed. The olive grove produces mainly table olives, some of which (those with smaller calibers) yield a very high quality olive oil. Most of the production (1200-1700 quintals per year) is sold as carefully selected and calibrated olives in brine and are highly especially regarded for their sensory properties. The 55 ha wineyard uses modern systems of support for the Merlot, Cabernet, Syrah, Nero D’Avola, Insolia, Grillo, Chardonnay and Cataratto wines. The wineyard uses a trickle irrigation system and mechanical harvest equipment. The grape output, which is kept at low levels to ensure high quality, amounts to about 4500 quintals per year. In 2008, the whole farm, in accordance with Reg. EC 2092/91, became wholly organic, as certified by ‘SUOLO E SALUTE s.r.l.’ . This certification only allows for the use of natural products as fertilizers and pesticides. In 2009 the farmhouse was elegantly restructured, converting it into a beautiful countryside resort called “Berlingeri Resort” (www.berlingeriresort.it), which is perfectly integrated with the farming activities. The resort provides the ideal accommodation in an area in which one can enjoy both the countryside and the nearby seaside. There are also many important tourist attractions in the area, such as Segesta, Selinunte, Cave di Cusa and the town itself of Mazara del Vallo with its splendid “Satiro Danzante”
